The drinks trolley had passed and I had finished a glass of wine and a coffee. The sun had set so there was nothing of much interest to look at through the little window. So I turned to Brushes on the ipad.

After much random tapping of icons and nothing happening I got a coloured screen to appear and started to play. I have got a lot to learn and an instruction manual would help but I had a lot of fun with it and before long we were preparing to land at Heathrow.

The Spring Exhibition of Arts at Tadworth Childrens' Trust

I have 10 paintings in this exhibition over the week end. Five framed and 5 unframed. The image above is one of them.

The Spring Exhibition of Arts 2011 15th April 2011 - 17th April 2011

For the 25th year, Tadworth Court will house a temporary exhibition and sale showcasing artists from across the South East from 15th - 17th April 2011. The event, organised by the Friends of The Children's Trust will raise money for children at The Children's Trust.

Admission is FREE and visitors can buy the exhibits.

The three-day Exhibition is open from 6pm - 9pm on Friday 15th, from 10am - 5pm on Saturday 16th, and from 10am - 3pm on Sunday 17th April 2010. The Exhibition will be officially opened by renowned photographer Nobby Clark at 7pm on Friday 15th.

To celebrate this special anniversary year, there will also be a display of artwork from local primary schools and from learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties who attend the School for Profound Education. Another new feature will allow visitors to show their artistic flair by copying a pen drawing from a local artist square by square.

Blogaversary Post

Today is my blogaversary! I have been writing this blog for a year now. Thanks for reading and leaving me your comments. This blog's non identcal twin Raspberry and Chipotle shares this date.

The picture above is another that I did of Reid's Palace. It is the view from the Royal Savoy.( See yesterday's post)

I used a blue aquarelle pencil for the drawing and then brushed on some water to create washes. I was inspired by the lovely blue and white tiles called azulejos that are to be seen in Madeira and mainland Portugal.

We visited the Casa Museo de Frederico de Freitos where there is an amazing extensive collection of decorative tiles.

Reid's Palace Madeira

I am just back from my holiday in Madeira. I painted this watercolour sitting by the sea looking up at this sugar pink building perched on a cliff and surrouded by palms and exotic plants.
This elegant and luxurious hotel was one of the first built on the island. I have been there for afternoon tea. I sat on the balcony under the arches with the terra cotta roof.
People go there to celebrate special birthdays and anniversaries. Winston Churchill used to stay there.
